As the GRACE/GRACE-FO/GRACE II Applications effort evolves, the development of a GRACE Applications Working Group (GAWG) is underway. This group will be comprised of key applications-focused Project and science team members, as well as operational users and others with interests in applied remote sensing data for hydrology, ice, solid Earth, and oceanography applications. The GAWG will coordinate on the missions’ applications activities and participate in applications-focused discussions, workshops and sessions at relevant meetings. The working group will develop a GRACE Applications Plan, conduct applications workshops and tutorials, and coordinate engagement of current and potential GRACE applications data users.
Among the objectives of the GAWG are the following:
- Assess current applications, societal benefits and requirements for GRACE data products
- Provide information about GRACE science and applications to a broad user community
- Engage existing and new end-users in a community that understands GRACE capabilities and are interested in using the missions data products and information for their applications
- Carry out activities primarily through workshops, email groups, telecons, and at relevant science meetings and conferences.
