Amazon Basin seasonal hydrology These images show the changes in gravity anomalies from GRACE over the Amazon Basin for each month of 2004. Changes in the amount of water stored in the basin varies from month to month, and can be monitored from space by the way the mass of the water alters Earth's gravity field. Reds and pinks show where mass is lower than average, and blues show where mass is higher. The distinct rainy and dry seasons of the Amazon Basin are reflected in these images.
