INTERACTIVE BROWSERS

The POET INTERACTIVE BROWSER has GRACE data grids version DPC 200711, from CSR, GFZ or JPL. The data are optimized for ocean applications. Ocean data grids and land data grids are separate. Ocean data have the dealiasing model added back and land contamination minimized. Since the data are suboptimal for land applications, they should be used for browsing purposes, but not in scientific publications. Both ocean and land grids include a reasonable Postglacial Rebound correction, and degree 1 correction. POET allows image animations, time series of averages in latitude-longitude boxes, as well as time-longitude and time-latitude plots to see feature propagation.

The U. COLORADO INTERACTIVE BROWSER has GRACE data grids version 4 from CSR, GFZ or JPL (JPL v4.1). These data have been destriped and are optimal for land hydrology or cryospheric applications. No Postglacial Rebound correction is applied. Ocean pixels do not have the dealiasing model added back, hence they should not be used at this time. Users can select arbitrary smoothing radii. This browser allows time series of values averaged over predefined land hydrologic basins; these basin-averages are much better than what users might obtain by doing their own spatial averaging based on the grids, since a necessary rescaling due to power lost to the destriping and smoothing filters is applied. Seasonal and trend fits to the time series are also available.
